Mapping (Summary):

The mushroom mapping project was started in 1980 by Eef Arnolds. Since then the project has been managed by the Working Group Mushroom-mapping Netherlands (WPN). This working group is the responsibility of the Netherlands Mycological Society (NMV). The WPN consists of a nucleus plus twelve regional coordinators (DCs) in the provinces. The DCs collect the observations from within their areas and are the first point of contact for the observers (“mappers”) in the field. The members of the nucleus determine the goals and delegate some specific tasks, among which the responsibility for publications about mushroom mapping (including this website) and the management of the database.
All activities for the mushroom mapping project are carried out on an unpaid-for basis by volunteers. Besides the members of the working group there are, in addition, around 130 mappers in the field!
